CORTE MADERA, Marin County — October 31, 2026. The Town of Corte Madera is urging residents in low-lying areas to remain alert for high tides and possible coastal flooding. Its public alerts warn that observed water levels have been running higher than predicted, and its homepage indicates the coastal flood advisory was extended through November 1.
Why tide tables may not tell the whole story
In its October 23 notice, the town listed high-tide forecasts for October 26–30 and cautioned that observed bay water levels have sometimes been about a foot above the predictions. Wind and other ocean conditions can raise the actual water level. A forecast value for the Richmond tide gauge is not a promise of the same height at every Corte Madera street.
Where can residents get sandbags?
The town advertises free fill-your-own sandbag stations at Fire Station 14, 342 Tamalpais Drive, and at the Paradise Drive parking lot at San Clemente Park. Residents should check the official sandbag page for changes and use safe lifting and stacking practices. A bag may help with limited surface water but cannot make a flooded road safe.
What to do before a storm
Clear debris from drains and gutters where it is safe and lawful, prepare emergency contacts, and verify AlertMarin registration. Do not drive around barricades or walk through floodwater of unknown depth. Check the town’s flood resources and Marin emergency updates before traveling.
