CORTE MADERA, Marin County — October 31, 2026. Menke Park, a longstanding gathering place in Old Corte Madera Square, celebrated its reopening following renovation work on September 19, 2026.
What did the town celebrate?
In its September 19 announcement, the town invited residents to a two-hour ribbon-cutting and ice cream social to explore the newly renovated park. The event featured music from Rocky Road, activities for families and ice cream donated by Lappert’s, with sponsorship from the Corte Madera Community Foundation.
The invitation confirms that the town treated the park reopening as a completed improvement milestone. It does not prove that every landscaping task, holiday decoration or nearby parking project has also been finished.
Why the renovation matters
Menke Park is part of the civic life of Old Corte Madera Square. Public parks in established neighborhood centers serve a mix of children, families, older residents, visitors and local businesses. The park’s reopening also gives the community a new outdoor place to organize small events and informal gatherings.
Parking rules are a separate issue
The town conducted September public workshops on parking in Old Corte Madera Square and considered changed time limits in October. Residents planning a longer park visit should follow current posted parking restrictions; the park reopening itself does not confer unlimited parking in adjacent spaces.
How to find local park information
Consult the Town of Corte Madera website for parks information and scheduled recreation activities. A ribbon-cutting event from September should not be presented as an event still taking place this weekend.
